TADOKU Workshop with Suzuki Sensei

2nd August 2025 Ms Suzuki conducted a Tadoku , extensive reading workshop for The JALSTA members.
She explained the concept of extensive reading and its significance in language learning.
Types of Japanese Reading Materials: We discussed the types of Japanese materials we typically read and how they can be leveraged for extensive reading.
Book Selection: Sensei introduced us to various general books and the relevant websites suitable for extensive reading and emphasized the importance of choosing books according to one's level.
Benefits of Extensive Reading: We learned how extensive reading can develop imagination and enhance critical thinking skills.
Teacher's Role: Suzuki sensei highlighted the crucial role teachers play in supporting students in extensive reading, providing guidance and encouragement.
The workshop was informative, engaging, and inspiring. We're grateful for Suzuki sensei's expertise and look forward to applying these insights in the classroom for our students and enhancing our language learning journey!
Tadoku as a technique can be used in the classroom as an inherent tool and also as an output tool to enhance and upgrade self and the students Japanese language skills
