Japan Olympiad 2024: A Comprehensive Report

Introduction:

The Japan Olympiad 2024, an initiative by the Japanese Language School Teachers' Association (JALSTA), was successfully conducted on April 19, 2024 with the support of Japan Foundation. This event was held on a dedicated online platform and targeted students from grade 4 to grade 6. The Olympiad aimed to provide a unique learning experience for young students, fostering their interest in Japan and encouraging them to learn the Japanese language.

Participation Overview:

The Olympiad witnessed enthusiastic participation from 611 students across 16 schools in India. This remarkable turnout reflects the growing interest in Japanese culture and language among the younger generation in India.

Objectives:

The primary objective of the Online Japan Olympiad was to offer students an engaging opportunity to explore various aspects of Japan. It aimed to serve as a motivational tool for students to delve deeper into the Japanese language, potentially sparking a lifelong interest and connection with Japan.

Results Announcement:

The event concluded with the announcement of the winners, who demonstrated exceptional knowledge and skills throughout the competition. The results are as follows:

• 1st Position: Alisha Sharma (Grade 5) - RPS International School, Sec 89, Gurugram

• 2nd Position: Anaya Gupta (Grade 4) - K.R. Mangalam World School, GK-II

• 3rd Position: Koehav Gaur. (Grade 4) - Birla Vidya Niketan, New Delhi

Awards Ceremony:

The winners will be honored by JALSTA, Japan Foundation and the JAL (Japan Airlines) in a special award ceremony scheduled for May 10, 2024, at the Japan Foundation, New Delhi.
